The Media Resource Center, formally referred to as the Library, has become a highly flexible hub for activities of all kinds. Activities include quiet individual reading, individual and group research, small group collaboration, large group presentations, media circulation and downtime—from brain breaks to socializing with friends.

The Ed Specs serve to illustrate concepts that will inform the master plans based on OUSD's aspirations to the audience of future architects who will implement them as well as for OUSD stakeholders to understand the reasoning behind modernizations.

Daylight

Is daylight provided from two sides?

Acoustics

Are there enhanced acoustics to support multiple learning activities occurring simultaneously?

Intimate Space

Is there space to reflect that permits natural surveillance by adults while providing privacy for the learner?

Views of Nature

Do spaces have views of nature to contribute to the right atmosphere for learning? If there is no opportunity to add windows with views of nature, consider using vinyl wall coverings with images of nature.

Outdoor Learning

Ensure natural daylight and access to Outdoor Learning to support hands-on learning and give students agency to choose from a variety of settings.
